A drab thrush, common in open habitats and woodlands in the lowlands, wanders up into Andean foothills. Nondescript greyish-brown with a pale, whitish belly. Note indistinct streaking on the throat; some populations also show a white patch on the chest. Sexes similar. Usually seen singly or in pairs. Conspicuous. The song is a typical thrush-like series of musical phrases.
